Biography
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, and raised in Pyhäranta, Finland, Jouni Smed got his first computer at the age of thirteen and ever since he has been keen in programming and playing computer games. But there is more to computers than just games, so he got serious for a while and received MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science and the title of Adjunct Professor from the University of Turku, Finland.
As a lecturer in the Department of Information Technology, he is currently trying to raise awareness inside the academia of the algorithmic problems present in computer games. His research interests range from code tweaking to object-oriented programming and from simple puzzles to interactive story generation. He lectures, he supervises students, and yes, he still likes to program and play computer games.
